As tempting as it was, I chose to ditch the jammies in order to keep the peace. The fabulous Lisa Gilpin ushered me up the Saturn Tower where we proceeded to act like a couple of kids in a candy store. All 10 designs? We were in Runway heaven.
"So where are they", I queried. "I can't trust anybody around here with these garments so I locked them up where no one would find them." "Yea, where's that?" "The file closet." "The file closet?" "Yes, the file closet."
Brilliant!
She unlocked the door and there they were! My eye was immediately drawn to Korto's incredible coat, but first I wanted a closer look at Leanne Marshall's winning look.
Leanne's construction of this garment was impeccable. Nary a thread out of place, a stitch unsewn or a blown seam to be seen. When I saw this on the episode I had assumed that the padding on the model added most of the width to the skirt but she really used the natural shape of the seat covers to achieve that effect.
But it was the innovative design of the seat belt fringe at the top that clinched it. I took a couple of close up photos to the amazing detail that went into this.
I can't imagine the amount of time she must have spent cutting and shredding that seat belt to achieve this look. Seeing this in person just made me appreciate it more. As good as this looked walking the Runway, it was just as impressive laying flat on a table. A well deserved win for Leanne!
More to come from Tbone's Big Adventure. Stay tuned!
