Before this episode aired, I was excited for Joe Faris because this challenge was right up his alley as a fellow resident of the Motor City. When his leather mini-dress walked the runway though, I was underwhelmed. I passed it off as a product of immunity and moved along. This piece didn't get much play on the episode and was easily overloooked. And I was surprised when Tim Gunn praised it so highly on his blog. Up close however, it is stunning.

Similar to Leanne, this was an extremely well constructed garment. You can tell he is a professional. Also like Leanne, he understood that the best use of the seatbelt maerial was in smaller doses. It is so heavy and unwielding, it comes off best as trim and he incorporated nicely in this design. Here's a shot of the back.

This is a garment that takes a closer inspection to truly appreciate. It was a surprising discovery to see this solid, unheralded work from Joe Faris. Bravo!
