Brandle and Chaplin find inspiration for their collection in the textures, colors, and patterns of fabrics. They find fabrics with interesting qualities and then pair them with the basics. The duo was notified on Monday that they would be showing their collection on Saturday, and they pulled together a flawless presentation that highlighted the fabrics and construction of their garments. A myriad of textures built this collection including a blend of Italian mohair and wool, silk prints, cotton patterns, denims, and metallic denims.
Emily mentioned that her favorite piece was a dressed name “Natalia,” which comes in two printed fabrics – the multi-colored pebble print and the reversible plaid/checker print. “Natalia” is a dress with a scoop neckline, and the back has a beautiful eye-shaped opening.
My two favorite pieces were the grey fitted-jacket with the hood,
and the high-waisted metallic denim green shorts, called “High.”
Alitia liked the mohair and wool monochromatic blue sweaters,
and also the metallic striped tights with the open-back black top.
As a whole, the collection carried off a feeling of the contrast between structure and ease. One thing that surprised me was that in the use of tights, which I normally do not find beneficial, the tights helped to pull out the accent colors in the fabrics, such as the reds in the plaids.
