Althea Harper Fall 2010 Show February 15 - continued

Project Runway Season 6 Runner Up, Althea Harper, to Showcase Eponymous Collection with Runway Presentation on February 15, 2010

New York, NY (February 8, 2010) – On February 15, 2010, Althea Harper will debut her Fall 2010 Contemporary Sportswear collection with a runway presentation at 7pm at Sundaram Tagore Gallery (547 west 27th street, New York, NY) Sponsors for the show include Sequin Jewelry and Michael Antonio Shoes.

Althea’s break out collection is designed with female empowerment and confidence in mind. Inspiration for this season textures, colors and silhouettes stem from the artwork of Umberto Boccioni, Carlo Carra and Antonio Sant’Elia. Althea’s design esthetic can be characterized as both minimalist and downtown chic. Her style combines tailoring and draping to make silhouettes appear strong and beautiful. Noted for her incredible knit work, the Fall 2010 collection includes unique and luxurious knits with varied stitches, tailored and oversized chunky knits along with feminine tailored jackets with strong shoulders and leather piecing. The collection also includes Althea’s signature body contouring silhouettes that have been updated for Fall with leather and silk accents.

Althea, who made a splash on the fashion scene earlier last year during Season 6 of Project Runway, has won the praise of many, including passionate Project Runway fans and the entertainment industry’s most respected personalities. Bloggers and fans have affectionately labeled her the “fabulous glamazon” and Tommy Hilfiger called her “genius”. Heidi Klum, Eva Longoria and Keri Washington are all fans of Althea’s designs and style guru Tim Gunn has said she’s “extremely talented. She’s going to blow people away.”
With a degree from both the University of Cincinnati School of Design Art Architecture and Planning and Central Saint Martins in London and her experience on Project Runway, Althea was commissioned by Tory Burch to become a part of the label’s design team. While designing for Tory Burch, Althea decided to follow her true passion and build her own line, self titled Althea Harper. This Fall 2010 runway show will serve as Althea’s official public debut of her eponymous collection.
