So the secret's out - I walked for Jesse at Bryant Park, and he was a decoy! He was incredibly sweet and super excited to have me walk for him. I was happy to work his green pencil skirt and floral print blouse with a cute vest look. I love his accessories and styling choices. The music he chose was also really fun to walk to!
Also, at this point when people leave the show, it's hard to feel too downtrodden for them because they all got to have a fashion show in Bryant Park during New York Fashion Week.
Aww Alexis, how can you be so happy that people are stressed out? Who wants to be around stress? Not me!
Alexis was out, but she still walked in Bryant Park, so I don't feel too bad! She really is a nice person and she will do very well in the fashion world.
Elements of Fashion: Earth, Air, Fire, Water
I call this episode, "Earth, Wind & Fire!"
Models of the Week: LORENA was fantastic in her sophisticated, understated way. A lot of the time people comment on the "best" walkers being the ones who strut out in a sassy way, but that is not what is going on in the real world of fashion these days, unless you are doing a swimwear or lingerie show. Lorena is the kind of model who represents what designers want right now. Classy, elegant, understated walks that let the clothes speak and be on display. I have not always given her enough praise. Bravo, Lorena!
KRISTINA is fabulous every week. Very consistent. I love that Anthony gave her praise, but I would not say she is a "Clydesdale." I know he meant the best, but I think she has a strong presence and a striking look and a smooth way of walking that shows the clothes off successfully time and time again. She is very confident and sure of herself which is what every fashion designer wants because if the model looks happy to wear it, holding her head high, then wouldn't you, the consumer want to try it on? I loved that high slit on the side of her dress. Sexy but not slutty. Thank you, Anthony!
BRANDISE commanded my attention this week in a way she hadn't before. Maybe it was because the outfit was more understated coming from Mila, so I noticed Brandise more. She was, I keep using this word, elegant! Her walk down the runway had an ease to it. I could tell she felt very comfortable. I sense that this outfit is something that she would wear herself.
I loved what Roland Mouret had to say. He was insightful and at times really charismatic and funny. I enjoyed his perspective and I hope they have him on again in the future as a guest judge.
I think Models of the Runway is cute and fun, however I find that the reason I don't like it at times is because it is redundant. The model paired with the winning designer of the challenge is always proud of their designer and happy that they won. The model walking for the designer who gets eliminated is ALWAYS worried she is going home. They try to get the models to complain about their designer or the other models there. But, as we all know by now, every designer just wants a girl who is easy to work with and is also easy to be around. (Not to mention in shape and the right measurements for their taste.) Is it just me, or do you just not want to hear their complaints? And when the models are just nice, it winds up being a bit dull. I am happy that the models are on Project Runway and they are doing a fabulous job, I just don't feel as drawn to my tv during MOTR. What are your thoughts?
I want to hear more from Valeria! She is a fabulous model and seems very sweet.
I love the quote from Holly! "It's really hard to find models that you actually like." Very true. Modeling is a job just like any other one. I wish more girls would just be themselves and not be so competitive. I have found some great friends who are models, so I have been fortunate.
Looking forward to tonight's show!!
xoxo Amanda
