BPR Interview with Season Two All Star Designer, Peach Carr - Continued

BPR:  This is Laura Kluvo from Blogging Project Runway and I'm on the phone with Season Two All Star, Peach Carr. Hi Peach!

PC:  Hi Laura!

BPR:  Are you familiar with BPR?

PC:  Hello?  Read it all the time!

BPR:  Congratulations on making the All-Star Cast!

PC:  Thank you very much.

BPR:  Which designer were most delighted to see in the cast?

PC:  I was thrilled to see Kayne.  I was completely star-struck and excited!

BPR:  We are heartbroken to see you leave.

PC:  Thank you.  I am heartbroken too.

BPR:  What made last night's challenge difficult?

PC:  These are explanations and not excuses, but what happened was that first, we spent 25 of our 30 minutes trying to decide on our word.  Then, when I presented my sketch my team said, "no we aren't using stretch, we are not doing sportswear, no 60's-70's, this isn't our girl..." So I started to feel like a fish out of water.

BPR:  If you could go back, would you do something differently?

PC:  One season a designer is raked over the coals for doing his own thing and not being a team player.  The next season, someone is eliminated for going along with the team and not standing up for their aesthetic.  It's hard to say what I would do differently.  Everyone expressed their opinions so strongly and I just went along and changed my design.  There were six people on the team and five of them were saying one thing.  I felt that I had to go along.

On the runway, I said to Isaac, "You would have fired me if I had spent the last five minutes of our design time arguing my point."

At this point it is just a guessing game about what I could have done differently - you never know what the judges will say.

BPR:  Who was your best friend from the cast?

PC:  Uli.   Kayne, Joshua, Anthony Ryan... we had a great time on the balcony in the evenings.  I will tell you that I left with ten great new friends.

BPR:  We know that this season was filmed over the summer, was it in the same studio at Parsons as usual, or was this a different set?

PC:  It was...a...different...set....

BPR:  After your elimination, did you have to remain sequestered?

PC:  Yes.

BPR:  How does Joanna compare to Tim as a mentor?

PC:  They have completely different styles.  I adore Tim and I love how he does what he does and I absolutely have the utmost respect for Joanna Coles as well.

BPR:  With only an hour show, it seemed that some of the Q&A on the runway was strangely edited.

BPR:  Did you watch last night?

PC:  Unfortunately I did.

BPR:  What exactly was the issue with your design?

PC:  It started with construction issues - and at the time, I did not want to throw this girl under the bus, but my model did not disclose that she has scoliosis and so when I put it on her, it was lopsided.  I tried to fix it, but I just didn't have time to get it right.

So I knew there were some construction and fit issues.

After that, the judges went on from there.

One of the judges did say that I was chic, and that they didn't understand why my design was not chic.  That was very kind.  I appreciated that.

BPR:  Do you really want to be known as the "Tennis-Wear Designer?"

PC:  God no!  It was a big part of my line, but especially since I have been home, my collection is much more ready-to-wear.  Lots of stretch fabrics, evening wear, curvy-friendly.  I would describe myself as a sportswear designer.

BPR:  Were you at the Premiere party last night?

PC:  I was not.  I am in Ohio right now with my daughter who is a freshman in college.  I just could not have made it in time.  I am a mom first.

BPR:  Why did Casanova say that Ivy was his boss?

PC:  Casanova is sewing for Ivy's line!

BPR:  What have you been working on since we saw you in Season 8?

PC:  I have been a crazy girl.  I did a fashion show last week.  I have another one next month.  My evening wear has taken off like crazy because it is so easy to wear, there are no zippers, it is all stretch.  Stretch sequins and tulle, it's washable.  I have some new custom prints

BPR:  Peach, we are almost out of time, is there anything else you would like to say to your fans?

PC:  They have been so fabulous and so supportive.  I have only received one not-so-nice tweet.  They have been so generous with their hearts.  I can not thank everyone enough.  That is what Project Runway brings.  The fans are so generous and kind.  Even though I was eliminated early, it has been a very positive experience for me.  Thank you everyone!

BPR:  Thank you Peach.

PC:  Thank you Laura.
