Tim Gunn in New Jersey - continued

A twelve year old boy who wants to be a fashion designer asked for advice. Tim Gunn explained how fashion is not just about making pretty dresses: it occurs in a social context that includes history and politics. "You're a barometric gauge of your culture. Be a sponge. Study everything. It's all going to be important."

A seventy year old woman commented that on Project Runway, designer contestants complain when there are challenges involving older-women, and that in fact, older women represent an untapped demographic market for stylish clothes. Tim Gunn shared that he is hoping to see mature women models in the upcoming season of Project Runway, as well as models that aren't a size 2, 4, and 6. This pronouncement was met with cheers and applause - which was only outdone at the conclusion of the interview - a standing ovation for our adored Tim Gunn.
