BPR Interview with Laurie Underwood, continued

BPR:  This is Laura Kluvo from Blogging Project Runway and I'm on the phone with season 14 designer, Laurie Underwood.  Hi Laurie!

LU:  Hi!

BPR:  Congratulations on making it so far in the competition!

LU:  Thank you so much!

BPR:  What was the best thing about being on the show?

LU:  Probably the opportunity to meet other designers that have the same mindset and passion that I do and to show the world who I am, my brand and what I stand for.

BPR:  Have you been watching all of the episodes?

LU:  I have, yes.

BPR:  I have a reader questions from Patrick:  "You've mentioned what an inspiration your daughter Journe is to your design work. What was your favorite childhood outfit?"

LU:  Probably the hot pink and black dresses that my mother made for myself and my older sister.

BPR: So you mom sewed too!   Do you make your daughter's clothes?

LU:  Not as much as people probably think.

BPR:  Who is your best friend from the cast?

LU:  That would be Ashley Nell Tipton.

BPR:  Have you remained in touch?

LU:  Yes, of course, at least once a week.

BPR:  Which was your favorite challenge?

LU:  The Mary Kay challenge.

BPR:  If you could go back, is there anything that you would do differently?

LU:  I would have spent more time sketching and designing rather than sewing.

BPR:  I have a reader question from Mark:  In last week's episode, (the Finding Neverland challenge....) if you had more time, how would you have finished the garment?

LU:  If I had more time at Mood, I would have chosen a different fabric, but no regrets.

BPR:  Are you a full-time designer, or do you have a day job?

LU:  I am a full-time designer.

BPR:  Your website is very impressive.

LU:  Thank you, I did it myself.

BPR:  Are you also a graphic designer?

LU:  Yes I am.

BPR:  I have a reader question from Paul:  "Please tell us more about your brand and your customer."

LU:  Wanda Grace is for the woman who has to work but loves to play.  I design for the woman who walks into the room and commands the room with style.  They are fun, graceful, edgy and sophisticated.  I design with lots of bold colors.

BPR:  Where does the name Wanda Grace come from?

LU:  Wanda is my middle name and I added Grace to polish it.

BPR:  What are you working on now?

LU:  I am expanding my brand into a lifestyle brand.

BPR:  Are you adding home dec?

LU:  I am adding content.  I am becoming a lifestyle brand that empowers through style.

BPR:  Where can we find your designs?

LU:  Through my website.

BPR:  Laurie, we are almost out of time, is there anything else you would like to say to your fans?

LU:  "Believe in your damn self."

BPR:  Thank you Laurie.
