ML: I've been doing a lot of traveling. I just got back from Peru and I am going to Haiti for Haiti Fashion Week in November.
BPR: Your collection is very innovative. Tell us about your inspiration for the "Pin Me/ Pierce Me" collection.
ML: In the 1950's and 60's collegiate men would "pin" their girls with the fraternity pins which was a promise of engagement. There is a really famous scene in Bye Bye Birdie where she gets pinned. And also the "Pierce me" part is when the promise is broken and her heart is pierced.
BPR: What techniques and materials did you use?
ML: Silk, Wool, lace, netting and over 4000 pins. I used the pins to create ruching and gathering and other techniques.
I also had a pin manufactured and featured in the collection.
BPR: Is it available for purchase?
ML: Yes, it is on my website.
BPR: Which is your favorite look?
ML: The opening coat dress... J'Adore that!

BPR: What are you working on now?
ML: I am working on dance costumes. It's really different for me. I have to consider the movement.
BPR: I imagine that would be challenging...
ML: Yes it is, but if I'm not challenged, I'm bored and I don't want that! Also my next collection will definitely be inspired by my trip to Peru. Let's see... what is the Peruvian spirit animal... a llama....?
BPR: That sounds like fun! Is there anything else you would like to say to your fans?
ML: Thank you for keeping up with me!
BPR: Thank you, Michelle!
