BPR: Tell us about your collection for HFW.
ND: I will be presenting ten pieces. My collection will take the Nicolena girl through her day and weekend. I have a couple of swimsuits, business, casual and party dresses.
BPR: How established in the fashion industry in Haiti?
ND: Actually it is more established than you would think. There is a lively and growing fashion industry. There are many garment factories in Haiti and many Haitian designers.
BPR: How can Haiti's economy benefit from the fashion industry?
ND: The fashion industry provides a way for Haitians to earn a living. Sewing is something that they are familiar with. As the industry grows, so will the opportunities.
BPR: How can we attend the show? Are there tickets for sale to the general public?
ND: Yes, there will be tickets available. Please stay tuned.
BPR: How did you become involved in Haiti Fashion Week?
ND: It really crazy. It was back in June. I have moved to Washington DC and I am working as an architect. Back in June, I was speaking with a friend and saying that I really miss fashion and I want to get back into it. My friend knew the former Haitian minister of trade and industry, fashion designer - Maguy Durce - and she told me that Maguy was organizing the 2015 Haiti Fashion Week. I met Maguy and visited Haiti and I committed to the show. Since then, Michelle, Gordana and Josh have come on board.
BPR: Thank you Nicholas.
ND: Thank you!
