Not surprisingly, Tim was the major draw, although I have to say I enjoyed the idea of styling the garments in different ways-sometimes they would have a model switch it up right there on the runway. Tim was totally charming and adorable. His ability to shift from the conceptual to the practical, from the runway to reality was really impressive. In his intro, he mentioned that they were going to address the issues of the proper underwear and he added “And you know how I love that topic!” The audience loved it.
After the show, Tim answered questions from the audience. Most of the questions were specific fashion issues that women had, for example a petite asked how to wear dresses with a fuller skirt without looking like a child, several young women asked about dressing in a more sophisticated manner but not dowdy. Of course, everyone begged Tim to go shopping with them. The only question concerning Project Runway was about his thoughts on Season 4 and Christian’s win. Another woman asked what Isaac Mizrahi’s move to Liz meant for the brand, which was interesting.
After the event was over, anyone who made a qualifying purchase could have their picture taken with Tim and get an autographed copy of his book. He was still advising people as he walked over to the area where that would take place! He seems to truly love what he does and is so warm and engaging that everyone feels like he is a friend.
